I should note that yes, Pascal is my cat and I took this picture. He isn’t generally scientifically-inclined, though the earnest expression on his face isn’t that unusual.
He is named for physicist-mathematician-philosopher Blaise Pascal, partly because of Pascal’s pioneering work on randomness and probability theory, but mainly because “Le chat a ses raisons que la raison ne connaît point.”
